Dr. Nikolaos Valsamidis is born in the island of Rhodes, in Greece, but he has danish family roots.
Dr. Nikolas Valsamidis is honored with a Master’s degree of Medical Science from the Medical Research Faculty at Copenhagen University in Denmark. Today, he is a member of the Royal Swedish College of Surgeons (RSCS) as well as a Member of International Fe- deration for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
Currently, he is the head of the Bariatric & Advanced Laparoscopic
Department in Mediterraneo Hospital where he manages his own surgical team which also aparts from dietitians, psycho- logists and other doctors who may need to deal with extreme obesity depending on the case.
He is specialized in minimal invasive procedures as well as laparoscopic techniques, including removal of the gallbladder, appendices, hernia operations, treatment of reflux, colorectal cancer and various techniques for surgical treatment of obesity, which applies these for over a decade.
He leads at conferences of experts on the treatment of morbid obesity across Europe. He has authored numerous articles about the morbid obesity in scientific journals such as Scientific Focus, Endoscopic Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Morbid Obesity Surgery, Re-do Surgery for Obesity.
Dr. Valsamidis speaks fluent Greek, English, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian and understands German and Dutch.
