My studies in Medicine took place at the University of Ioannina.

I specialized in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in the Orthopaedics Clinic at the University of Ioannina under the direction of Professor P. Soukakos. He was my teacher along with other brilliant staff, now all professors of Orthopaedics (A. Beris, Th. Xenakis, K. Malizos, A. Georgoulis), I had the opportunity to be trained and initiated at a high level throughout the range of Orthopaedic Surgery. Contemporary traumatology, spinal surgery, total knee and hip arthroplasties, surgical oncology, children orthopedics, reconstructive microsurgery and welding ends, arthroscopic surgery and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

With the introduction, for the first time in Greece, of the "George Noulis" scholarship in 1996, I was the first scholar specialized in Orthopaedic in ATOS KLINIK and KARL RUPRECHTS UNIVERSITY, HEI- DELBERG, GERMANY. Under the guidance of H.H. PAESSLER I was specialized in arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries surgery. I participated as an instructor in many courses of Microsurgery, arthro- scopic surgery, fixation and intramedullary nailing, orthopedic classical.

Since 1998 I have my own private practice, working as a surgeon in large private clinics and hospitals, putting my specialization in modern, scientifically right and mainly human way. After al- most 19 years in private medicine, with over 3500 surgeries as an orthopedic specialist, strive to approach each patient, each case with the attention, interest and responsibility, that every doctor has at his beginning and, of course, the valuable experience, gained in the course.

    Medical Services

Arthroscopic rehabilitation techniques of cartilaginous and osteochondral lesions of the joints and prevention of osteoarthritis.

They mainly concern the joints of the knee, ankle and shoulder and secondly the hip, wrist and elbow.

    • Arthroscopic Cleaning (Shaving, Sublimation) of small cartilage lesions

    • Abrasion arthroplasty (rather Old technique with limited results)

    • Drilling of subchondral bone (with limited use particularly when bone edema exists)

    • Microfracture technique (creates a fibrocartilaginous tissue of high strenght particularly in limited defects and young patients)

    • Autotransplantation of osteochondral cylinders (OATS-Mosaicplasty) for osteochondral defects

    • Allograft transplantation of osteochondral parts

    • Transplantation of autologous chondrocytes after cultivation. Techniques of first (ACI) and second and third-generation (Matrix-induced MACI).

    • Transplantation Techniques of autologous marrow ingredients or blood derivatives or fat cells (stem cells) (SC), growth factors (TGF), morphogenetic proteins (BMP).

A prerequisite for good short and long-term results is the correction of ligamentous, meniscal injuries and axial differentials of the joints if presented alongside. The choice of one technique or techniques combination depends on the extend and depth of the lesion and by the patient`s age. In most cases hospitalisation lasts for one day (ODC). The postoperative rehabilitation presupposes controlled partial weght-bearing as well as controlled range of motion of the joint.
