Vasilios Kozobolis was born in Athens. He graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Messina, Italy. He was specialised in Ophthalmology at Hippokratio Hospital of Athens. He became a lecturer at the University of Crete(exfoliation syndrome and exfoliative glaucoma/ Honours).
He has been a member of the research group of Vardinogiannio Laboratory of Transplant and Eye-Microsurgery, having developed activity not only in the scientific field of glaucoma, but in the field of refractive surgery as well.
He carried out his postgraduate training in Wellington Hospital of London, UK(1995), Jule Ganin, Lausanne, Switzerland & University Eyeclinic, Verona, Italy(1997).
He has been appointed a lecturer of the University of Thrace & Head of the University Ophthalmologic Clinic(2002-2007), in which organised afresh. He has been appointed a professor of the University of Thrace since 2007. He founded and organised the Department of Corneal Transplantation & the Eye Bank. He also established and organised the Hellenic research Centre & Treatment for Ophthalmic Diseases.
He created and holds the scientific direction of the Postgraduate Programme (MSc) “Imaging in Ophthalmology”, being thus the first ophthalmological MSc to be carried out via electronic learning (e-learning, distance learning). He has fortified two international patents(OBI & European Patent Office): Intraocular Tonometer.
He is an active member of international scientific research groups, such as: Lindberg Society, Exfoliation Special Interest Group, European Eye Bank Association. He is the originator of the new conventional institution: “Interuniversity Ophthalmological Conference”. He is a member of the following societies:
Hellenic Society of IOL and Refractive Surgery
Hellenic Glaucoma Society
Hellenic Cornea Society
European Glaucoma Society(EGS)
American Academy of Ophthalmology(AAO)
New York Academy of Sciences
Lindberg Society

Glaucoma
Diagnostic approach to glaucoma. The diagnostic glaucoma tests that are carried out in Glaucoma Laser Eye Center Athens are listed as such:
Tonometry
Gonioscopy
Direct and Indirect ophthalmoscopy and photographing of the optic nerve
Girth, in other words, the study of the optic field using specific perimeters
Tonometry and 24-hour tonometric curve with the usage of various tonometers(Goldmann, Pascal, Air etc.)
Optical Fiber Analyses with(GDx, VCC, OCT, HRT) technologies that provides us with the sole possibility to evaluate and measure the thickness of the optical fibres, therefore making a premature diagnosis or a better monitoring, since the optical fibres are the ones that first get infected to glaucoma
Corneal Pachymetry for measuring the corneou’s central thickness, that is considered of vital examination, since the thickness may influence the measuring of intraocular pressure; that means to overrate the pressure in a thick cornea or to underrate it in a thin one. The examination is carried out using an supersonic pachymeter and just a slight contact with the corneo is sufficient enough or with the imaging method that no contact is required whatsoever.
Imaging and study of the optic nerve head via digital photography or other imaging methods
Imaging of anterior molecules and anterior chamber angle(OCT anterior segment or pentacam)
