    Nicholaos Kavallieratos is General Surgeon with a special preoccupation in classical and advanced laparoscopic surgery of the digestive tract, oncological surgery, endocrine surgery and surgery of hernias.

    A graduate of the Medical School of Athens University and having gained initial experience in private clinics and district hospitals, stood across the hierarchy of our National Health System, working for 28 years in one of the busiest hospitals in the country (“GENERAL HOSPITAL of NIKEA - PIREAUS”). He has treated thousands of patients, performing procedures that include full range of General Surgery (gastrointestinal disorders, colic, liver, emergency treatment of spleen on haematolog- ical diseases basis, pancreas, thyroid and other endocrine, hernias, vessels etc.). He was involved in the creation/maintenance of vascular access (fistula, graft, permanent vascular catheters) of patients on chronic haemodialysis.

    By monitoring and exercise (18 workshops, trainings and sim- ilar activities) in special centres abroad mainly (Hamburg, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Vienna, Zurich, Switzerland Freiburg, Berlin etc.) acquired all the necessary knowledge and skills to discharge advanced laparoscopic surgery, surgery for the treatment of obesity and oncology. He has also attended 35 Greek and 12 international training series. The update to newer developments filled with participation in approxi- mately 50 Greek and 40 international conferences.

    The rich experience in all aspects of general surgery was reflected in writing abstracts at conferences (around 70 in Greek and 40 international). Original scientific articles and papers in Greek and foreign medical press and practices volumes published in 20 cases, including the description of original variant surgery devised and published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery. This action is often a reference to the relevant bibliography.

    His writing work is filled with scientific editing of three books and writing of 21 chapters of surgical interest in books. Along with his scientific work, he developed an extensive educational work with organizing and being scientifically responsible for three postgraduate series in EU programs, par- ticipating as an instructor/lecturer to a large number of postgraduate programs for specialists and skilled doctors, and also the Nursing School of GNN and training of EMS re- sponders. He is also an instructor Professor of General Surgery topic on the Greek Society of Surgery. He has also partici- pated in roundtables or has lectured medical audience in 29 cases. He is a member of three international and two Greek medical societies. Proficient in English, speaks good French and moderate German and Italian.

    Since 2008 he carries on General Surgery in the private sec- tor. He has the scientific responsibility of the surgical field of clinical “TIMIOS STAVROS” and works as associate director of clinical Group “Athens Medical Center”. Dr. Nikos Kaval- lieratos, along with his team, is cooperating with remarkable hospitals (“METROPOLITAN”, “MEDITERRANEO”, “ATHINEON”, “LEFKOS STAVROS”, “GENERAL KALLITHEA CLINIC”).
