As a former professional athlete (a goalkeeper in football teams such as Apollon Smyrnis F.C. Acharnaikos F.C. and Ilisiakos F.C.), orthopedic surgeon Konstantinos Intzoglou has a first-hand experience in the importance of promptly and appropriately treating patients with high functional demands in order to ensure their quality of life. At the Attica General Hospital KAT, Konstantinos Intzoglou was specialized in medical emergencies. He was a doctor and scientific associate in the Department of Sports Injuries of the Attica General Hospital KAT for ten years.
Konstantinos Intzoglou graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ioannina. He holds a master’s degree in Sports Medicine by the International Olympic Committee (Lausanne) and a doctoral degree by the Faculty of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the field of cartilage damage. Researcher and scientific associate at the Sports Medicine Institute of Northwestern Greece, he is currently the Attending Orthopedic Surgeon in the Department of Sports Injuries of the Metropolitan Hospital.
In addition, he is the owner of MINISCO Center of Orthopedics which provides high quality orthopedic services accustomed to the patient’s distinct medical case and health determinants. ‘‘The ultimate possible result for the minimum possible cost’’ is the adopted mentality and as a result, all modern conservative treatment methods are applied (strengthening exercises, physiotherapy etc.) before surgical treatment is recommended to the patient. Particularly in cases of knee and hip osteoarthritis and especially in elderly patients, modern minimally invasive surgical techniques are recommended.
Konstantinos Intzoglou is no longer an active football player, but he still remains a big supporter of the football teams he was once part of and provides his medical services to GS Apollon Smyrnis and Ilisiakos F.C. He specializes in arthroscopy on all major joints of the human body (knee, shoulder, hip, ankle), and caters to the fastest and safest return of athletes to sports activities (fast trach rehab) with the implementation of autologous cell injections for strains, sprains etc. or surgical treatment.
In 2011, he received the National Hellenic Research Award by the Hellenic Arthroscopy Association. His fields of expertise include cruciate ligament tears, meniscus, shoulder dislocations, osteoarthritis and total hip and knee arthroplasty.
