He graduated from Athens College in 1983. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras in 1990. He specialized in one of the best clinics in Greece, the Orthopaedic Clinic of the University Hospital of Crete and in 1997 he was awarded the title of Doctor with honors from the University of Crete on the research on hip fractures and osteoporosis. Then he had postgraduate studies at Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre of Great Britain in hip surgery and surgery of upper and lower limbs. Got two scholarships from the Greek Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (EEXOT) in the years 1997 and 1999 for further development of expertise in joint surgery.
Since 2006 he is Director of the Orthopedic Hospital Metropolitan, where he founded the Clinic for Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease, which is an ideal center in the Greek area. Since 2011 he is trained and certified in orthopedic robotic hip and knee. He has written and published 14 original scientific articles in prestigious scientific journals in the USA and Europe with hip fractures issues, osteoporosis, joint operations, research on vitamin D and there are more than 500 references (citation) in the research work.
Because of publications included in the international scientific “Who is Who” USA. He has authored 28 articles in Greek journals. He has more than 130 papers in international and Greek conferences. He is a trainer of doctors on hip fractures and osteoporosis since 2002 and hold at least 10 speeches annually in this field. He has authored a book, which is dis- tributed to students at the University of Athens.
Dr. Konstantinos Dretakis is attending from 2005 to present the education program of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons AAOS in Rosemont IL USA, which is addressed only to orthopeadics in USA. In addition, he has worked as a researcher in charge of central awarded multicenter studies such as the European Prospective Osteoporosis Study EFOS EXFOS and others. Dr. Constantine Dretakis is a member of the GMC European hip Society AAOS, EEXOT and EEMMO.
In January 2014 he founded the Robotics Orthopaedic Surgery with Dr. D. Chissas, which is unique in Greece and one of three in Europe. Together with Mr. D. Chissas are pioneers in the advent of Robotics Orthopaedics in Greece, having performed more than 200 robotic surgeries to date. They are international trainers in Robotic Surgery.
