Halkidiki is a large peninsula, washed by Aegean sea and N. NW is attached to Mace- donia through the region of Thessaloniki. In the southern part of Chalkidiki, are three oblong peninsulas that are from west to east: Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos. It is a place blessed and endowed with rare beauty. Bigger commercial centre of region is that of N. Mudania. The visitor of Chalkidiki can choose between many and varied interests. Hundreds of entertaining activities, organized excursions, special trekking routes, visits to archaeological sites and traditional settlements. The Festivals, every year constitute major cultural events that attract large group of people from Greece and the whole world. Mount Athos is the only living Museum of Byzantine Culture and only men are allowed in. However, everyone can visit the sea by fishing boats and luxury yachts in daily cruises that are organized.
